 ಭಗವಾನ್ ಬುದ್ಧ ಕಪಿಲವಸ್ತುವಿನ ಬಳಿಯಿರುವ ಲುಂಬಿಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶುದ್ದೋಧನ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಯಾದೇವಿಯರಿಗೆ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಬುದ್ಧ ಮಗನಾಗಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಾರ್ಥ-"ತನ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾದವನು' ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು. ರಾಜಕುಮಾರನನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಬನ್ನಿರೆಂದು ಶುದ್ದೋಧನನು ರಾಜರ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆ ಕಳಿಸಿದ. ರಾಜರ್ಷಿಗಳು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ನುಡಿದರು: ಈ ನವಜಾತ ಶಿಶುವು ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೇ ಮುಕ್ತಿಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ತೋರುವುದು ಎಂದು ಅಲೌಕಿಕ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಗಳು ಸಾರುತ್ತಿವೆ". ಈ ಮಗುವು ಎಂದಾದರೂ ರೋಗಿಯನ್ನೋ, ವಯಸ್ಸಾದವನನ್ನೋ, ಅಥವಾ ಶವವನ್ನೋ ಕಂಡರೆ,ವೈರಾಗ್ಯ ತಾಳಿ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವನೆಂದು ರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯನ್ನೂ [...]
