TEPHROSIA PURPUREA
It is a good manure. If it grows on a land, that land is considered the first quality land. It absorbs Nitrogen from the atmosphere and makes the soil fertile. When Gingilly and Urad are planted, Kozhinji grow along. We should not leave them till their seeds drop on the ground. Harvest before that time and dry them in sun. These seeds can be sold at Rs.80 per kilo as they are in demand. They can be planted to make the soil fertile.
UNIQUE GINGILLY
It is believed to contain Veda Shakthi. Gingilly is hot but its oil is cooling. It is offered to ancestors in Tarpana.
SESAME AND SOLAR ENERGY
The black seeds are the best as they contain higher amounts of Solar energy. They are Sattvic and produce Sattvic tissues in the body and so are a good food for Yogis.
LICE CONTROL
Juice of Gingilly plant kills lice.
ANTI OXIDANT
Gingilly oil is anti oxidant.
COMPANION CROPS
Companion crops or mixed crops are the crops grown generally to avoid diseases and pest attacking the main crop. The companion crops attract the pests that attack the main crop, in turn maintaining the quality and quantity of yield. This helps in reducing the man power and extra costs incurred on pesticides or insecticides.
Groundnuts, Sesame and Cow Peas can be grown together for this purpose.
