SUPPORT CROPS
1. Plant Agathi (Tamil) tree near Banana trees. Keep cutting Agathi branches and feed cattle. When this tree is nearby, plantains give good yield. Agathi absorbs Nitrogen from atmosphere and stores it in it roots. No other plant can compete with it in this work. Any plant can be grown under Agathi with benefits. Gourds, Bittergourd and Snakegourd creepers can be grown with more yield under Agathi. Even Betel plant can be made to spread under Agathi.
2. Serumani 1 type (Tamil name) Betel can be planted under Coconut trees. They climb and grow well. This makes Coconut tree too fertile. The raw coconuts do not fall down. Such coconut trees can withstand heat too.
3. Betel leaf can be grown on Agathi trees. If Plantains are grown along with Betel, they can give barks and leaves to tie Betel leaves to keep them fresh while transporting.
ADATHODA VASICA
Adathoda plants can be planted around Betel gardens to protect the creeper from hot winds.
