Vengaya Thamarai and Agaya Thamarai (Tamil) are good fodder items which increase milk yield.

Water lettuce is often used in tropical aquariums to provide cover for small fish. It is also helpful as it out competes algae for nutrients in the water, thereby preventing massive algal blooms.
Ash—applied to ringworm of the scalp. It can be used as fodder for cattle and pigs.
Ayurvedic medicine found uses for water lettuce. The leaves were applied to boils, wounds, syphilitic lesions and skin infections like ringworm and other fungi.
Medicinal uses:
Leaf: Pound to paste and place on swellings, ulcer, haemorrhoids, gonorrhoea, syphilis.
THIS PLANT REDUCES THE NUMBER OF MOSQUITOES.
