How to make Masala akki rotti (Karnataka style)Preparation time : 10 mins

  1. 1 cup rice flour
  2. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  3. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  4. 1 pinch hing
  5. 1 mediu\m sized chopped onion
  6. 2 – 3 finely chopped green chilly
  7. 1 medium sized grated carrot
  8. 1 table spoon grated coconut
  9. 1 strand of coriander leaves
  10. 3/4 cup of water
  11. 4 – 5 tablespoon oil
  12. 1 butter paper / banana leaves


Method of cooking:

  1. Take bowl and add rice flour, salt, cumin seeds hing, chopped onion, finely chopped green chilly, grated carrot, grated coconut, coriander leaves and mix it well.
  2. Add water to it and start mixing it until the mixture is well mixed with water. The dough after adding water should not be too sticky. If you find it sticking, add little bit of rice flour and try mixing it.
  3. Put the pan on the gas to heat.
  4. Take a butter paper or horizontally cut banana leaves, pour 1 teaspoon of oil on it and spread it well.
  5. Take the dough, and gently press it by your hand to make it like a roti.
  6. Once the pan is heated, shift the pressed dough on the cover to pan and fry it both the ways,
  7. Your masala rotti is ready to eat.
