Cashew-Chicken Gravy

Serves 3-4


  • Chicken-1/2 kg
  • Cashew-25 gm (10-15)
  • Tomato (chopped)-3 to 4
  • Onion (chopped)-2
  • Ginger Garlic paste -2 table spoon
  • Curd- 2 table spoon
  • Garam Masala powder- 1 table spoon
  • Turmeric powder-1/4 tea spoon
  • Chilli powder-2 tea spoon
  • Green chilli (chopped)-2 to 3
  • Coriander powder- 1 table spoon
  • Salt- 1 ½ table spoon
  • Oil- ½ cup
  • Kasuri methi- 1 tea spoon
  • Lemon juice- ½ spoon
  • Coriander leaves for garnish


For Marination of Chicken: In a bowl, add curd, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, ginger-garlic paste (1 spoon), salt (1 spoon), pepper powder (1/2 spoon), coriander powder, mix well. Marinate the chicken with this mixture and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Prepare Tomato-Cashew paste: Grind chopped tomatoes and Cashews to a smooth paste.

Method of Cooking

Add oil to a pan (7-8 table spoon oil). Add green chilli, onions and fry them. Add Ginger garlic paste (1 spoon). Next add the marinated chicken and water (1/2 cup) and cook for 10 minutes. Add the tomato-cashew paste. Do stir continuously for 2 minutes. Add chilli powder (1 tea spoon), pepper powder (1/2 tea spoon) and kasuri methi (1 tea spoon). Stir continuously  and Cook for about 2 minutes. At last add ½ tea spoon lemon juice and garnish it with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with Chapathi, Parota or Rice.
