Special Curd Rice

How to make special curd rice (Karnataka style)

Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 15 mins

Ingredients:

  1. 1 tablespoon oil
  2. 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seed
  3. 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seed
  4. 1 pinch of hing
  5. 1/2 teaspoon of chana dal
  6. 1/2 teaspoon of urad dal
  7. 3 – 4 red chilly broken in to large pieces
  8. 1 tablespoon grated coconut
  9. 1 strand of curry leaves
  10. 1 tablespoon coriander leaves
  11. 1/2 teaspoon of grated ginger
  12. 1 cup of cooked rice
  13. 1/2 cup of milk
  14. 1/2 cup of curd
  15. salt as per taste
  16. 2 tablespoon Pomegranate
  17. 1 medium sized finely chopped onion (fried or raw)

 

Method of cooking:

  1. Cook the rice.
  2. Take a small pan, add oil into it. Once the oil is heat, put mustard seed, cumin seed, asafoetida and let the seeds splutter.
  3. Add chana dal and urad dal and red chilly and fry it until it turns light golden color.
  4. Add curry leaves and transfer the mixture to a big bowl.
  5. Add cooked rice, salt, grated coconut, milk and curd.
  6. Add onion and pomegranate.
  7. Mix it well before serving.
